About Us

Pangea Maths Competition Ireland is part of a reputed international mathematics competition organised in more than 20 European countries and is now being held in Ireland for the sixth time.

The Pangea Maths Competition is a fun and challenging competition for primary and secondary school students, designed to promote logical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving rather than rote learning or exam preparation.

Open to 5th & 6th Class primary and 2nd & 5th Year secondary school students, the competition is inclusive and suitable for students of all ability levels. At least half of the questions in the first round are designed to be accessible to all, helping students build confidence while still challenging those with a strong aptitude for mathematics.

Each year, thousands of students across Europe take part in Pangea Maths, becoming part of a wider community that celebrates curiosity, independent thinking, and achievement.

The competition takes place in two rounds: an in-school first round, completed during normal class time, followed by a national final for the top-performing students. Participation is free of charge and easy for schools to organise.

Pangea Maths Competition Ireland is organised by Pangea Maths Ireland, working in partnership with the international Pangea Maths network to deliver a positive, motivating mathematics experience for schools in Ireland.
